Free anti-virus software

With so many emails going round loaded with virus payloads and so many opportunities to be lured towards web sites riddled with viruses it's insane not to have an anti-virus package on your PC. There's no excuse, particularly as they needn't cost anything.

On our Windows-based computers we use Microsoft Security Essentials which is entirely free (even in business on up to 10 PCs) but we've also used AVG which has a free basic version.

The alternative of course is to use a Mac. No viruses.
